The U.K. government has begun an inquiry into so-called ‘cryptocurrencies’, that is, digital currencies and their associated distributed ledger technology. The Treasure Committee will investigate both the risks and opportunities. For more details click here.

 

Two ‘Right to be Forgotten’ trials have been brought before the High Court this month. NT1 v Google LLC and NT2 v Google LLC have been heard by Warby J. The claims concern Google’s refusal to delist search results relating to spent convictions. Judgment is reserved.

 

The Article 29 Working Party has published the following GDPR guidelines and opinion:

  • Guidelines on Automated individual decision-making and Profiling for the purposes of Regulation 2016/679
  • Guidelines on Personal data breach notification under Regulation 2016/679
  • Guidelines on the application and setting of administrative fines
  • Opinion 01/2017 on the Proposed Regulation for the ePrivacy Regulation (2002/58/EC)
